Description

The New Yorker Today app is the best way to stay on top of news and culture every day, and the magazine each week. Features: • Get a daily blend of in-depth reporting, political commentary, cultural criticism, and humor from the website. • Read each week’s magazine and browse past issues. • Receive alerts on breaking-news coverage by your favorite New Yorker writers and notifications about major pieces in the magazine. • Flip through a nearly endless supply of New Yorker cartoons using the Cartoon Randomizer tab • Access The New Yorker Sticker Pack: download the app, add the extension to iMessage, and liven up your texts with Christoph Niemann’s signature drawings and animations of city life • Read articles offline and bookmark long reads to finish later The app is free to download. Subscribers receive unlimited access. Non-subscribers may access a limited number of articles each month. Most current New Yorker subscribers have unlimited access to the app as part of their existing subscription. Subscribers with a print-only subscription may not have unlimited access. Users who have trouble accessing unlimited stories, or who wish to upgrade their access level may call Customer Service at 1-800-967-2082. All users have unlimited access to the Cartoon Randomizer, which does not count toward the article limit for non-subscribers. All users have unlimited access to the Sticker Pack, which is free to download and requires iOS 10 or above. A subscription costs $8.99 a month or $89.99 annually, and includes a 30-day free trial, after which it will automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period and will state the cost of renewal. Subscriptions may be managed by the user and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user’s account settings after purchase. Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication, where applicable. Payment will be charged to iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase. The New Yorker Today app requires iOS 9 or above. • The New Yorker is great, but why do I have ads if I am a subscriber?!

The New Yorker is amazing. However, I am a subscriber and I am being subjected to ads in the mobile app. Stop this! How could you do this? Doesn’t it go against your ideology?! Sadly, deleting this app to skip the ads, despite the convenience.
  • Where are the caption contest winners?

Why on earth does the app only show this week’s contest? I want to see the winners and the submissions that the print version shows. Yet there’s no way to view them on the app.
  • FAIL!

The content is great. But the app is a worthless piece of crap. I have paid for a subscription yet every time I try to use the app it asks me to subscribe and will not let me view any content because I have allegedly passed my limit of free content. This is actually the SECOND time I have experienced a problem like this with The New Yorker. I so very much want to be a regular reader. But it seems like the morons who run Condé Nast’s digital operation can’t get their most basic act together. So my recommendation is to save yourself time and money and go somewhere else.

What happened to the table of contents and the contributors? They’re essential parts of the magazine.

Cannot get app and digital subscription to sync. I just read the hard copy.

I’m a subscriber to the paper & digital magazine, yet when I go on the digital, I’m always told that I ‘ve read my limit of free articles. Yet when I try to link the subscriptions I’m told I’m already linked up. Very frustrating!
  • One of the most important media resources.....

Growing up with out cable tv but a coffee table full of periodicals this establishment has got to be one of the most influential sources of real fact checked news. I’ve usually been one to read the print edition strictly, and only rely on the apps when a story was so compelling I had to read it before the print ed hit my mailbox. Now it’s imperative to read the daily on any device since Ronan Farrow’s work is available here among other the important authors.

When reading a long article my iPhone X eventually runs extremely slowly and at a very, very hot temperature. The scrolling then becomes slow and painful and I have to switch to the website. I think something is programmed inefficiency as it should be so taxing on a modern smartphone.
