  • Great app

I have been using Pimsleur to learn German for around a month now. It has been great and I feel like I have retained the information that I have learned using the app.

Content is great. App is terrible, at least on my iPhone 6, I have to reinstall it every day as it crashes on launch.
  • Won’t work on my iPad, but does on my iPhone

    By MCPianoMan
This is the most unstable app I’ve ever had on my iPad. Every time I start the program, it crashes. I’ve deleted it and reinstalled it, retried dozens of times. Typically, I have to restart the program 10-12 times to get it to run. Once it’s running, I like it a lot. I don’t understand, because it’s not a graphically intense program. I’ve reported the trouble through the app, but no update. I’ll give it another week or so before I cancel my subscription, because when it does work I like it. UPDATE — right before canceling my subscription, I tried it on my iPhone X. Works fine there. I’ll keep the app and subscription. It’s certainly not a visual app where the screen size matters.
  • Amazing.

I work in food and I did this to communicate to my customers. Thank you, this app got me a 2 dollar raise! I can communicate in español without the class. I am only in highschool, but this app helped me complete my dream!

    Love it !
  • Terrible app; great learning system

    By gireeshy
I love Pimsleur. I’m almost done with level 4 spanish. I did level 3 and 4 in this app. Levels 1 and 2 via audible audiobook downloads. While there are some great features to this app, the fundamental function — playing 1/2 hour audio lessons — is terrible. It clearly has to buffer/download the content every time you restart the app. Or even if you’re just returning to the app later in the day. I’ve tried to use the download feature so that i could have multiple lessons ready while on a trip where I would be away from network signals... the app did not maintain the downloads. They disappeared and I had to interrupt my instruction for nearly a week. I listen to each lesson 2-3 times. At least once all the way through without stopping, but also once or twice in piecemel, pausing and coming back to it throughout the day. No exaggeration — I have wasted hours of my life waiting for this app to load the audio. Hours. It’s immensely frustrating. Audio playback is such a basic function. I shouldn’t have to wait 3 minutes for my audio to buffer when I’ve already listened to that lesson earlier in the day and I have 3 bars of LTE network signal. It’s frankly flabbergasting. If I could do it all over again I would not have spent the money on this app and would have stayed with audible. At the very least fix the download feature! I’ve got 256 gb on my phone. 15 hours of Spanish lessons is not going to make a dent. This and other minor UI issues features feel like the app developers have never actually used this app for a full 30 lesson Pimsleur course.
  • Great app but it gets stuck a lot

    By Ciao amigos
I love the app and the program. However if I leave the program for a while and try to pick up where I left off, the majority of the time it gets stuck and I cannot use the app until I turn off my phone. I have the iPhone X so it isn’t the age of my phone. It seems to be a tic in the app.
  • Finally nailing down my German!!!

    By SGomez14
I have spent several years trying to learn German, mostly through in-classroom instruction. At the end of each semester I feel that I lose all of my skills. Pimsleur has broken down language learning into a tried and true method. I learned plenty of incredibly useful words and phrases during the first Level that I never learned in class! Will continue to use for French later on.

I would have never purchased level 1 if I knew no other level existed! I would have purchased a competitor’s product and wouldn’t need to waste my time writing this negative review.
  • Love the program and the app

    By Anon13742
I think I should do this in two parts like most of the reviews I read seemed to. Part one is the method and part two is the app. This is the 4th month of me learning Korean. I’m in love with this learning method. It sticks better for me than anything I used at school. I listen to the language daily and now I catch and understand fragments in conversations. I have noticed the pronunciation is on point. I haven’t had any big issues with the app. Occasionally I will go to a earlier lesson and find it needs to be re-downloaded but that doesn’t bother me. I wouldn’t have that problem with the physical copy but the way I lose things it’s easier to have a program you can download. I read that it deletes lessons when you switch between courses, but that didn’t happen to me. Maybe it’s a fixed issue. (I had been worried about that.) So A+ so far!
